Cole's Birthday

We had a big weekend!  One of the things we celebrated was Cole's birthday on Saturday.

His big birthday gift came a few days early while he was at school.  Cole has been begging for a basketball hoop.  So we surprised him and got one for his birthday.  This is his reaction getting off the bus and seeing the basketball hoop...in the pouring rain!

I'll post the rest of his birthday and our other weekend celebrations later!

Madison Weekend!

We've got two days left of school.  The kids are counting down and so excited!  We spent last weekend in Madison for Ethan's soccer tournament.

The kids pretty much took over the hotel.  They were loud and crazy!  It was pouring rain most of the weekend.  Ethan has such a fun team with great kids.  We went out to dinner and had lots of fun with his team.

Liv decided she wants to play softball, but mostly because she found a cute pink helmet and ball.

I spent time in Cole's class yesterday for his Heritage Project.  I snapped a picture of Cole and his best buddy, Ronan.  They are such cute boys!

I dropped Ethan off at school this morning at 6:30am.  All the 6th graders and spending the day in Chicago.  He won't be coming home until later tonight.  He was so excited!
This was him before I dropped him off.

Friday Night

The weather was beautiful last night.  We couldn't help but stay outside as much as possible.  We took the kids to the battling cages for the first time.  We had lots of fun!

Weekly Happenings

Things are getting busy at school with only a few weeks left.  The kids have lots of fun field trips planned this week alone.  Ethan is going on a field trip tomorrow to canoe down a river.  Cole is going to the library for a field trip and Liv is going to the Zoo on Tuesday.

We have about two weeks left of soccer season.  Cole had some tough games this past weekend.  He got pretty aggressive in one and the ref told him he had to take a 5 minute time out and go sit on the side.  It was pretty funny.  Cole definitely needed to cool off, but I've never heard of a ref putting a player in time out without giving them a card.  Cole's interests have switched from soccer to football and basketball. Lately, he spends a lot of time at the neighbors doing this...

Ethan had three games this weekend.  They won two and lost the other.  He played well.

Liv had her spring gymnastic performance.

Here is a video of her beam performance.  She was chosen, along with two other girls, to do a beam routine. It's kind of hard to see her at first, people are standing in the way, but as she starts you can see here.

The boys are prepping for their next TKD test.  It's pretty intense and they have been training for 6 months for this.  It's been tricky to try and fit this in with soccer, but the boys only have a few weeks left.  Liv gets bored and spends her time at TKD doing tricks in the other room.

We also did Ethan's birthday piƱata a few weeks ago, which I never blogged about.

We've had some stormy rainy days lately.  That means we've spent time playing with the kids in our empty basement.  I had to snap a picture one evening because we have three different sports going one.  Cole is playing basketball, Ethan and Shawn are playing baseball, and Liv is playing tennis.

Liv has been practicing for the big 2nd grade spelling B.  She is nervous, but she can spell great.

The boys are getting some new suits.  Here is Cole getting measured.

Liv and I went on a shopping lunch date the other day.  We had fun!

The last exciting news is that the pool is finally open.  We have already been swimming this year.

Liv's 8 year old pics

Finally getting around to posting Liv's birthday pictures

Landscaping

I told Shawn for Mother's Day I wanted to finish the landscaping and plant lots of trees, bushes and pretty flowers.  So we've spet a lot of time lately at the nursery.  We even got a riding lawn mower!
