PInewood Derby
This morning we participated in our first pinewood derby. Ethan and Shawn worked really hard creating just the right car.
I was actually a little nervous and was just hoping that we didn't come in last. But, to my surprise Ethan came in first during his first race. We even got video to prove it.
We raced in three more heats after this, taking 2nd, 3rd, and 1st again. Overall I was happy, and so was Ethan.

Ethan's car was named "Bullet Viper". I don't know where it came from, but Ethan actually took two days to come up with the name.

Hot Tub Night
We broke in the Hot Tub tonight for FHE. I know, it's only March, but we have had unseasonably wonderful weather and it was a beautiful day. Looking forward to many more hot tub nights.

Photo booth
Here is Ethan having fun with photo booth. My favorite is the last one, I think he looks like Incrediboy (or Syndrome) from Incredibles.
baseball
I was secretly hoping none of my kids wanted to play baseball.
I am really not fond of sitting for hours in the sun!
The other night at the park Cole stood and watched a family play baseball. He wouldn't play at the park or anything. He just sat there and watched.
The next few nights all Cole wanted to do was play baseball.
We've never really played a lot of baseball around this house,
but I agreed to take him out back and practice at little.
He hit to first pitch I threw to him, and the second, and the third. He only missed a few. Somehow Cole actually is pretty good at baseball and seems to be a bit of a natural. I stuck my phone is a nearby flower pot in an attempt to capture him hitting the baseball. This is what I got....

Determined
Liv is a very determined little girl.
Determined to get what she wants, where she wants, and the way she wants.
She wanted to learn to tie her shoes....so she did.
She wanted to learn to snap......so she did.
She wanted to learn to skip....so she did.
She practiced and practiced and would even come into my room late at night, after she was supposed to be asleep, to show me that she had been practicing the past few hours and was getting really good at snapping.
I love the determination in her. Let's just hope we can keep it focused in the right direction or I might be in BIG trouble!!
Weather
The weather finally decided to warm up. The last two days have been BEAUTIFUL!! We've taken advantage and already hit up two parks, rode bikes and scooters, and played baseball in the backyard.
Ethan told me he is too old to pose for pictures, so I had to sneak some of him at the park the other night.

Footloose
The other day I was watching the new Footloose movie while folding laundry. Anytime the music started getting loud Liv came running. She knew it meant dancing and she LOVES dancing. The girl in the movie does a lot of hair flipping and shaking. This is Liv doing her impression of "Footloose dancing" in the grocery store.

Liv's Outfit
Liv woke up Tuesday morning and was refusing to get dressed. Without being prompted, Ethan walked into her room and offered to help.
First, he asked her "where are your stretchy-like pants". Liv pulled out a pair of gray stretch pants.
Then he told her to get a pair of shorts while he chose a shirt. Next, he told her to get on her boots.
This was the outfit Ethan and Liv ended up with.
Ethan explained to Liv that this is what all the girls in his class are wearing, except their shorts are shorter :)

Science Fair
This is Liv and her friend, Mia. They are eating their popcorn on the bleachers. They went from booth to booth getting as much candy as they could. It was cute!
Field Trip
I went with Liv and her school class on a field trip this past week to the Tropical Pet Store. It is pretty much a normal pet store, but without the traditional pets (ex. dogs and cats). It had alligators, tortoises, exotic fish, rats, and other stuff like that.
They kids all got to feed the Poi fish in the giant pond.
Then we sat down in the lunch room around tables while weird animals were passed around. The kids got to touch a star fish, sea urchin, hedgehog, lizard, rats, turtle, chinchilla, and a snake. It actually was pretty gross. The worker pulled two HUGE rats from a cage and just set them on the table for the kids to pet and hold. Liv wasn't loving it, but she was a good sport. She wouldn't touch the star fish and sea urchin that was passed around, but she did touch everything else (including snake and rat). The chinchilla was actually pretty adorable and the hedgehog also, but the rats were just disgusting and the snake was way too creepy. I will never own a reptile. One of the rats was named Cole and Liv thought that was really funny. Here are a few random pictures from my phone.
