Insect Preserve

Yesterday I attended the 2nd Grade Insect Preserve.  Several weeks ago Ethan was put into a group with three other students to research an insect.  Ethan's group was assigned was the Walking Stick.  They did lots of research and prepared reports and pictures.  The classroom was set up like a insect preserve and you could go around and see the different insect the kids made, learn about them, look at pictures, and even buy snacks and souvenirs the kids prepared.  Ethan and I made a bunch of fruit kabobs for his store (apparently walking sticks eat berries).  The parents were give fake money when we entered and could buy anything we wanted from the kids.  Liv and I had fun sampling all the different treats.  The kids had to practice giving exact change and running a store.  Towards the end the kids all reduce their prices and had sales.  It was a really neat experience and fun learning for the kids about insects and money.
