4th of July

Shawn and I were both scheduled to work on the 4th.  Hospitals don't really know what a holiday is.  But after much convincing of my boss I was able to work the night before and get home around 1am and Shawn left for work that morning at 6am until the next day.  It was a little tag team, but we made it work.

The kids and I made tie dye shirts in the morning.  It's been crazy hot and humid here lately so the last thing I wanted to do was go and sit at a parade.  The shirts turned out cute and the kids were excited to wear them for the fireworks.

At 11:30 we went to our ward Hawaiian Luau.  The kids swam, ate food, learned to hula, and had a water balloon fight.

We came home and cooled off for a while and then the kids rode bikes/scooters/skateboards for the rest of the evening until it was time for fireworks.  We started with a few sparklers in the backyard.

When it was finally dark enough we broke out the glow sticks and walked to the fireworks.

And then we walked home and went to bed!
